How to get verified on Instagram in India

The blue tick on Instagram (now called Meta Verified) is no longer something only celebrities get. Since Meta introduced the paid verification program, any creator can get verified by paying a monthly subscription fee, around Rs 649 per month on mobile in India as of 2026.

What paid verification gives you is the blue badge, account protection against impersonation, priority support from Meta, and slightly better visibility in some placements. What it doesn't give you is a meaningful boost to your reach or a guarantee that your content performs better. The algorithm doesn't treat verified accounts differently in terms of distribution.

The original free verification still exists but is essentially impossible to get unless you're a major public figure with significant media coverage across multiple independent sources. Meta's internal team decides who gets it and they don't accept applications from most accounts.

For most Indian creators the honest answer is that the paid badge is a legitimacy signal worth having if you're actively monetising or pitching brand deals, because it makes your profile look more established. It's not worth it if you're just starting out.
