How to get more comments on YouTube in India

YouTube's algorithm treats comments as a signal that people are engaged enough to stop and type something. More comments generally means more distribution. The problem is most creators ask for comments the wrong way.

'Comment below what you think' gets nothing. It is too vague. A specific question at the end of a video is different. 'Which of these three phones would you actually buy?' or 'Has this ever happened to you?' gives viewers something concrete to respond to. The more personal or opinionated the question, the more responses it tends to get.

Indian audiences respond well to controversy and comparison. Anything that splits opinion works. iPhone vs Android. Delhi vs Mumbai. Hindi vs English content. Putting a divisive but low-stakes question at the end of a video is one of the fastest ways to get a comment section going.

Pinning your own comment as the first one also helps. Post something interesting or add extra context that did not make it into the video. It signals that you are actively in the comments and makes others more likely to join.

Finally, reply to early comments quickly, within the first hour of posting. YouTube shows more activity to potential new viewers when a video already has replies, and it makes your existing audience feel like you are actually listening.
