How to do keyword research for YouTube in India

Keyword research for YouTube is not about finding the highest-search-volume term. It is about finding the gap between what people are searching for and how well the existing videos are answering it.

Start by typing your topic into YouTube's search bar and looking at the autocomplete suggestions. Those are real searches real people typed. In India specifically, watch for Hinglish variations of the same query. "How to invest money" and "paise kahan lagaye" are the same intent but different audiences and different competition levels.

Look at the top 5 videos for your chosen keyword. If they all have millions of views and come from channels with 500k-plus subscribers, that is a hard keyword to rank for when you are starting out. Find a longer, more specific version of the same question where the existing answers are weaker.

SocioMee's YouTube keyword research tool surfaces trending queries and low-competition topics specifically relevant to Indian creators, which saves a lot of the manual searching.
