Does posting time actually matter on YouTube

Less than most people think, but not zero.

YouTube distributes content over days and weeks, not just in the first hour after posting. A video that performs well in its first 48 hours gets pushed further, but what drives that initial performance is mostly thumbnail, title, and whether your existing subscribers actually watch it, not what time you posted.

For Indian audiences the data generally shows higher activity in the evenings between 7pm and 10pm and on weekends. If you have an audience already, posting when they are most likely online gives you a slightly better first-hour performance signal.

For new channels with small audiences, posting time is close to irrelevant because the algorithm is not pushing your content based on recency anyway. Focus on the quality of the hook and thumbnail first.

SocioMee's best time tool pulls your channel's specific data to show when your audience is most active. Generic advice about posting at 6pm IST may not apply to your specific audience.
